Cohosts and Cohorts

In light of the fact that Twitter (‘X’) has become completely unusable / untenable for self-promotion over the course of the past year, we’ve discontinued regular posting on that particular social media service. We’ve finally decided to set up shop on cohost!; for the facts that its management seems far more creator-friendly, that the community centered around it seems to be largely positive, and because it feels like a place where we can potentially carve out a suitable niche for ourselves [compared to the difficulties faced in growing a similar presence on the likes of Twitter or its other alternatives]. We hope that you’ll follow us there for our continued celebrations of ‘Bad Game Birthdays,’ for announcements of new articles, and updates on our new streaming schedule; not to mention more regular postings with regards to industry news and my personal hot takes on it.

Speaking of streaming: We’re currently committing to a minimum of one stream a week over on Twitch.tv, with potential to up it to two a week (pending growth in viewership / availability of co-hosts). We’ll be aiming to stream at 8:00PM (EST) on Saturdays and/or Sundays, with a focus on “Theme Nights”; wherein we’ll be picking subject matters / thematic elements that link together a small handful of titles (mostly of the “bad” variety), which we’ll cover over the course of roughly two or three hours. Whenever possible, I’d like to bring on regular co-hosts to help me keep the streams lively and entertaining; namely, my friend Charkie. In addition to these themed streams, we’ll also continue to attempt full playthroughs of select titles, with a focus paid toward more critical evaluation and discussions of their often troubled developments. We’re currently working to increase our subscriber base on Twitch and on YouTube, and to potentially use it as a platform for hosting further projects; including a possible return of the ‘Bad Game Hall of Fame Podcast,’ live Q&A sessions, and other content less reliant on writing huge blocks of text.

Which brings us to what most of y’all are probably most interested in hearing about: An update on our upcoming articles. And the sad fact of the matter is, I currently have no update. I have continued with the struggle to get back into the routine of writing, and to find satisfaction with any of my attempts at putting ideas down on proverbial paper. To be clear, I’m not giving up on writing articles altogether: It’s just been hard to focus on that format and get the quality of my written word where I’m happy with it, and the streams have been a fun way to get Content™ out and play around with how I approach the subject of Bad Games. So, yeah: genuine apologies to anyone who’s bummed about the lack of updates on the BGHOF site proper, but I have to do what feels good for me right now — keep myself interested in the stuff I’m putting out, and not burn myself out completely. BGHOF is still a passion project at the end of the day, and I feel like y’all here understand that it doesn’t work if I don’t care about what I’m covering / I’m not having fun with the work I’m doing.

Cassidy is the curator of a bad video game hall of fame. Whether you interpret that as "a hall of fame dedicated to bad video games" or as "a sub-par hall of fame for video games" is entirely up to you. Goes by "They / Them" pronouns.

Genuine cowpoke.
